AUGMENT is coming… are you ready?

This story has been a long time coming, but Augment is finally in the hands of my editor and it’s only a matter of weeks until we’re putting the final touches on the manuscript and sending it out to the world.

I’m beyond psyched to share this story with you guys as it’s unlike anything else I’ve ever written. Augment is roughly 60,000 words and is actually a compilation of 3 loosely intertwined novellas ranging between 15-20,000 words.

The first novella, Nemesis, follows Trigger, a hitman who can’t remember who he’s working for, why he’s working for them, and, for what it’s worth, he can only remember bits and pieces of his life up until the moment he was sentenced to prison in life for…for…for something he can’t (surprise, surprise) remember.

For what it’s worth, he’s pretty sure whatever it was, it was quite bad. But he said he’d kill for a second chance, so now he’s out to prove it.

The second novella, Homebody, is an introspective look at the last moments of a woman’s life before her supposed suicide. Told from the perspective of her digitally reconstructed consciousness, plunge into a murder-mystery unlike anything you’ve ever read before.

The third and final novella, The Watchmaker’s Daughter, was actually shortlisted for an award, but I’m actually glad it didn’t win because that would mean I couldn’t have added it to this collection.

The Watchmaker’s Daughter follows a famed neural prosthetic scientist and her husband, a world renowned organic sculptor as they struggle with the grief of losing their first child…a grief so crushing it will lead them to play god with life and death itself.

A crime nobody will regret committing more than them.

Alright, so that’s what you can expect from Augment. We haven’t settled on a release date yet, but I’ll be sure to let you know well in advance. If you’re interested in getting insider details on this story as we approach the launch, sign up for my newsletter down below.

    They all sound great!

Thanks, Heather. You know how to make a writer preen with happiness. 😉

The Watchmaker’s Daughter. It sounds psychologically daunting which is when I love your writing the most.

Aww shucks, Karen. I hope this one delivers all the daunts!

So “everybody wants prosthetic foreheads on their real heads”? At least that’s how I read the description for the final piece – which sounds cool. They all do, but give me amnesiac hitmen anyday because you can’t be guilty for what you can’t remember, right? ***Actually I tried this for my defense, it didn’t work. I still think the logic is solid though.***

Ha! I’ve heard of double chins, but double foreheads? That’s a new one. 😉 So… uh… without incriminating yourself, who’d you off? Or rather, who do you not remember off’ing?

Probably the man. Everyone is always saying they are wanting to stick him with something, and supposedly I’m working for him, but if I could eliminate the middle man…

You sound like a man on a mission.

I’ll stay out of your way. I’ve never had much love The Man or his cousin Middle.

Your forte seems to be novellas, and based on how great your previous creations were, I am really looking forward to this! Congrats and sell a lot of books!

Thanks, Noelle! There’s something about the novella length that I quite like. It’s quick and punchy, but long enough to go deep on character development. Best of all worlds.

Yeah, this all sounds really good. Can’t wait to check it out.
